The International Air, Heating and Refrigeration Exposition (AHR) 2024 Recap

Here at Universal Electronics, our presence at AHRexpo; the International Air, Heating and Refrigeration Exposition is going on our fourth year of exhibiting and conducting meetings with our HVAC (Heating Ventilation, and Air conditioning) partners. This year the event took place in chilly Chicago January 22-24. The event has over 1800 exhibitors and nearly 50,000 attendees

Like many other industries, the HVAC industry is getting more and more connected to smart home technologies.

According to ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers) two key trends include:

• Smart and connected HVACR systems have gained traction, enabling remote monitoring, predictive maintenance, and energy optimization.
• The integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning is revolutionizing system efficiency by analyzing data patterns to make real-time adjustments.
  

Another trend outlined by the IEA (International Energy Agency) is smart grids, and electricity networks that use digital technologies, sensors, and software to better match supply and demand in real-time, reduce costs and maintain stability. Those smart grids will connect to smart homes.

As companies look at these trends, products are being developed to fit the growing needs in addressing climate change for climate control via energy savings and creating solutions that learn and meet their consumer needs and patterns of use.

The ASHRAE report concludes that major industry shifts are around creating products that address risks for poorly ventilated buildings to reduce airborne diseases and released a new standard to measure zero net carbon and energy goals in buildings, and future innovation around energy efficiency and sustainability.
