Senior Network Engineer

Job Description:

Under the direction of the global Infrastructure Director the Sr. Network Engineer will architect, implement and support a global network with continuous service improvement initiatives; driving global standardization initiatives, implementation of high availability designs and best practices, SOX compliance and the prompt resolution of Network/Telecom IT incidents and service requests.

Specifically, the Sr. Network Engineer will work with Network/ Telecom Analysts and manage their efforts to provide a consistent, customer focused, fit-for-purpose highly secure, highly available voice/data network infrastructure service that meets SLAs. Leading and developing the team, and ensure they work within best practice and SOX compliance.

Working in this position within the IT Infrastructure team, the IT Sr. Network Engineer will play a hands on role supporting all aspects of  voice/data network HW/SW infrastructure, including design, installation, configuration and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, load balancers, PBX, servers, and storage. The Sr. Network Engineer will play a vital role in the management of the IT Service Delivery Function on a day-to-day basis including, SW licensing, platform currency, tool monitoring and administration, compliance and ensure service levels are maintained and resources properly balanced.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for all aspects of the data, video and voice network including standards, design, technical integration, and technology recommendations 
  • Responsible for the deployment of new projects and services in the data center environment and elsewhere in the global enterprise.
  • Responsible for driving a global MPLS WAN, RFP's and MPLS implementation
  • Responsible for all aspects of the wireless LAN and network security infrastructure including standards, design, technical integration, and technology recommendations.
  • Work cooperatively with other senior engineering resources to maintain and revise technical standards and documentation as part of a unifiedstrategy
  • Responsible for troubleshooting issues and incident management throughout the network environment, serving as senior technical support for other members of the team and peer organization
  • Responsible for identifying problem areas in a proactive way and developing solutions to meet the challenges in the converged network environment
  • Responsible for ensuring the security of the data center network working with the security architecture team to ensure the highest standards of security are obtained
Requirements:
  • 8+ years demonstrated success managing a global Network team and expert level knowledge in architecture, design, standards, configuration, troubleshooting and security.
  • Expert level knowledge of complex network concepts including MPLS, BGP, routing protocols, IGRP,  EIGRP, OSPF, spanning tree, and VLAN design, WLAN technologies, WAN Optimization, packet analysis and inspection, and application  performance troubleshooting
  • Expert level knowledge of Cisco data center switching platforms including working knowledge of the Cisco Nexus platform
  • Expert level knowledge of security technologies including Firewalls, IPS, IDS platforms, vulnerability scanning, monitoring and event correlation.
  • Expert level knowledge of application load balancing platforms including FS LTM and GTM
  • Expert level knowledge of wireless infrastructure implement and support a global platform
  • Solid experience with Disaster Recovery technologies and best practices
  • Solid experience of SOX Compliance and security best practices
  • Solid understanding of server platforms, virtualization, protocols and how they interact with the network in a high availability configuration
  • Strong experienced with Service Level agreements, configuration and use of tools to monitor performance, availability and producing metrics, to achieve Service Level Objectives.
  • Strong team player, partnering with IT peers, customers, management and individual contributors.
  • Experience in IT service management best practices, including a track record of using ITIL models of service and service desk including but not limited to applications; desktop, mobile, server technologies, voice, VoIP, IVR, CTI and data networking.
  • 8+ years' experience with configuring and managing Systems tools including Antivirus platforms, spam and malware remediation , Network, performance, capacity,  availability,  and MSSCCM.
  • Excellent presentation/communicationskills.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.

Education:

  • BS Degree in Engineering or Computer Science and a CCIE certification or with at least 5 years of experience and certifications or expert level knowledge of:
    • MPLS. WLAN, VLANs, VMWare, VOIP
    • Routing Protocols OSPF, BGP,EIGRP
    • QoS
    • Palo Alto IDS/IPS
    • Nexus platform
    • FS Load Balancers
    • WAN Acceleration
    • Firewalls/IDS/IPS
